Rocktoberfest @ Garden of Five Senses
Garden of Five Senses - outside and inside.

There were several bands playing at the Rocktoberfest. Really enjoyed Advaita - a psychedelic fusion band from New Delhi.

The philosophy of Advaita is in many ways a theory of everything, indescribable in words. It is the very essence of ancient Indian philosophy and the science of its spirituality.
‘a’- non, ‘dvaita’ – dual,
Advaita means experiencing all as "One", because in reality everything stems from one universal "Energy" or "Consciousness". As a philosophical system, Advaita Vedanta draws its roots from the ancient Upanishads. The basic tenet is one that speaks of the identity of the Aatman and Brahman being the same as the true identity of the jiva, the individual self. Moksha or “liberation” is the realization of this truth – not as a concept, but as an experience to be attained through the highest forms of yogic practice.
Thus the material world is an illusion, or maya, the perceived sate of duality where, out of ignorance or avidya the individual sees himself as separate from the world around him.
Advaita has an interesting resonance with the study of metaphysics and most specifically with the relation between Energy and matter.
Einstein’s equation;
E = mc2
Where E = energy and m = mass of a particle and c = speed of light
Also Einstein established that
E = hí
Where E = Energy of a wave, and h = Planck’s constant and í = frequency of the wavelength.
The two equations combined give the result;
hí = mc2
This directly relates the mass of a particle to its frequency, which tells us that anything material has an associated wavelength. This in turn gives us a very interesting relationship between mass and energy, matter is another form of waves which in turn is another form of energy .It is also scientifically established that "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed", which again takes us to the point that the whole Universe is a manifestation of that “One energy”(that is Non-Dual in nature or “Advaita”) which exhibits itself in many changeable forms (mass, wave, different energy forms etc).
The music of this band is deeply inspired by the vastness and depth of this philosophy. In our own way, we attempt to dissolve into the world we perceive, and discover music that resonates around us and within us.
Many great musicians, especially in the Indian Classical arena, speak of the pursuit of that incredible moment during performance when the musician becomes the music and forgets his own identity.
Though we are but toddlers as musicians and performers, this pursuit is one that excites us and inspires us and we hope that as a band we can strive towards reaching even a small fragment of that space.
A recurring theme in many of our songs is about finding a way back home, or ones true nature – towards experiencing oneness.
